Most
of these photographs had no captions and dates when first put on this
site, but much information has since come in: we still need more. The small captions here are temporary working descriptions until proper groupings are made. Many of the later pictures are from the processions in 1931 (the Translation to the new Shrine) and in 1938 (extension of the Shrine Church). This page will be reconstructed once all the pictures of the 1938 procession are on this website. 1-27 and 61-62 :: Tea in the Vicarage Garden was an integral part of the early pilgrimages, and therefore most of these groups are posed there, sometimes with Fr Patten 28 :: is probably just post-war (St Clement's, Leigh-on-Sea) 29-60 :: photographs from the earliest album in the Archives, arranged here in the same haphazard fashion as in the album 63-72 and to follow :: miscellaneous early groups It is quite likely that some of these pictures have been used in later OLMs, Reviews or in books, and any references or additional detail about any of them will be very welcome. |
